Due to a Covid-19 disease and the fact that she became a widow shortly afterward, the upkeep of her cattle farm went way down and natural inheritance took over the productivity of her cattle. By the end of 2023 she finally found help to clean the full area to recover her cattle production.
 
 After our visit she agreed to not clear all, but leave Proyecto Palo a few hectares to inpelment a reforestation program. The trees to be planted will be Cordia alliodora, Vochysia guatamalensis and Vochysia ferruginea, which are all are extreme fast growers.

The farm has a few hectares of secondary forest that Proyecto Palo will use to establish an organic cocoa plantation, increasing the economical value of the small forest as its canopy will be needed for cocoa production for its shade.

Proyecto Palo is aiming the small forest and the reforestation to form a lasting forest isle in the area infested by the African palm industry. Already neighbors have let Julio know they want to join the Proyecto Palo program.
