Project Jobo Dulce

The plan for 2024

The project is divided in two parts: a rotation timber system in the South of about 6hectares. In between the natural vegetation, 3.250 Gmelina arborea trees will be planted with  a widely recommended species for carbon anchoring, and expected to produce timber within 14 years onward.
The rest of the farm will be planted with an alternating combination of Azadirachta indica, Polyalthia longifolia and fruit bearing trees of the area. The selection of Polyalthia has to do with the narrow canopy allowing light on the forest floor, allowing long term agroforestry; and its alkaloid production harvestable without destroying the tree.

The seed is now purchased in Honduras and collected localy. As the rains will begin in April, the nursery is build currently.
The whole area is to be planted in the planting season of 2024, together with native bean crop enhancing nitrogen levels in the soil.

Just a few days before the rain will start, we are taking care of seedlings of the 2023 planting to make it through dry period. Nursery will start soon
